KALLIS’ Redesigned SAT Pattern Strategy 2016

Students and test-takers often assume that the best resources for SAT preparation (and other standardized tests) are always those produced by the major test prep companies and publishers. Of course, that assumption may often hold true and it’s correct that some of the leading study books and materials are those authored by Kaplan, Princeton Review, McGraw Hill, and others. We find, however, that there are always some smaller publishing houses or even individual authors who manage to produce resources that are on par or superior to the established brands.

In the case of the SAT, one such example is provided by Kallis Edu, a boutique education specialist based in San Diego. Kallis’ latest book, entitled KALLIS’ Redesigned SAT Pattern Strategy 2016 has quickly gained popularity among prospective SAT test-takers. Having heard good things about it, we decided to have a look ourselves and were not disappointed.

In terms of structure, KALLIS’ Redesigned SAT Pattern Strategy 2016 (which is now already the book’s second edition) starts with a brief overview of the redesigned SAT test, followed by chapters covering Reading, Writing and Language, Essay, Algebra, Advanced Math Topics, Geometry, and Data Analysis. KALLIS’ Redesigned SAT Pattern Strategy 2016 is very thorough (over 600 pages), well-organized, clear, and does an excellent job explaining the key areas and concepts that are essential for mastering the SAT. Using a learning-by-doing and practice-based approach, the book has question topics, over 1,000 questions with detailed answers/explanations, and six full-length SAT practice tests to give you plenty of substantive knowledge and practice. There are also model essay answers.

Kallis’ SAT prep book does not provide simplistic strategic instructions (‘tricks’ on how to approach SAT test questions) but rather is based on the idea that test-takers who know the substance/material will be best positioned to answer the questions correctly. Additionally, however, the book analyzes various types of SAT questions, which helps test-takers to understand – and thus correctly answer and approach – these questions.

Overall, this is an excellent resource from an up and coming publisher.
